Socket & See PDL PRO High Resolution Loop Tester
The PDL PRO is a no trip and high current, high resolution digital earth loop impedance tester.
The Socket & See PDL PRO also features a large backlit display that illuminates when the tester is switched on as well as during testing, making testing easy in poorly lit areas. The unit will automatically power off after approximately 3 mins of inactivity and features a secure protective rubber boot to protect the unit against every day bumps and scrapes. For additional protection, the PDL PRO is also fully protected against accidental phase to phase connection.
The PDL PRO also uses true impedance technique for accurate measurement of Prospective Fault Current (PFC) and also calculates Prospective Short Circuit (PSC) in the event of a short circuit between the live conductors.

Loop No Trip L-E
This is a 3 wire test to measure Zs where the circuit is protected by a RCD. Where possible, non-essential electrical equipment should be disconnected to reduce the chance of the RCD tripping as a result of leakage build up.
Loop High Current L-E
The High current test is used to measure Ze at the distribution board downstream of any RCD or Zs, where the circuit is not protected by an RCD.
High Resolution L-E / L-N
The High current tests are used to measure Ze or Zs, where the circuit is not protected by an RCD. Results will be displayed to 1 mohm resolution
Hands Free
The hands free function can be used with any loop measurement. Select the loop measurement required with the rotary dial. Pressed the HANDS FREE button and HANDSFREE will be displayed on the screen. Once the tester is connected, correct voltage and polarity is confirmed and loop test will be conducted without TEST being pressed.
Volts L-N / L-E / N-E
Voltage L-N is the tester’s default setting. By pressing VOLTS LN-LE-NE the voltage displayed will be toggled. the voltage displayed can be toggled before or after the loop test is carried out.
PFC / PSC
After a loop test has been carried out the calculated PFC and PSC can be displayed by selecting PFC L-E / PSC L-N
Polarity Test Pad
Touch the touchpad area next to the test button. There should be no change in the indication given. If the Voltage / Polarity LED flashes RED and a warning tone emitted when the touchpad is touched, a potentially dangerous polarity reversal exists.
The Socket & See PDL PRO is fully BS EN 61010 and BS EN 61557 certified.
EMC compliance – BS EN 61326
Socket & See IRC PRO Insulation and Continuity Tester
The IRC PRO is an advanced digital continuity and insulation resistance tester.
Key features
- Insulation Test (250V, 500V, 1000V)
- Auto ranging continuity up to 19.99kΩ
- Buzzer facility for “belling out”
- Nulls leads up to 5Ω
- Hands Free function
- Hazardous voltage LED and audible tone
- Auto switch off function for battery preservation.
- Dual insulated wear indicating test leads
- GS38 prods and clips
- Measurement category CAT III 500V (CAT IV 300V)
The Socket & See IRC PRO features 1,000V testing, with up to 500 tests from a single set of 4 x AA alkaline batteries. Expect even more tests when testing at 250v or 500V.
Other useful features include a large back lit display and protective rubber over mold, making the IRC PRO a versatile unit suitable for many environments. The unit is also fully protected against accidental connection to the mains, an often easy and expensive mistake.

Insulation
Turn the rotary dial to the required test voltage. Push the test button. During the test the LCD will indicate the test voltage being applied. The result will then be shown.
Continuity Null
To ensure greater accuracy when performing continuity tests a lead null should be carried out. This will ensure that test lead resistance is taken into account when testing.
Continuity
Turn the rotary dial to the continuity position. Apply test leads to the resistance to be measured and press the test button. To ensure accurate results, the test leads should be nulled.
Handsfree
Hands free operation is available for Continuity or Insulation functions. Select the function required with the rotary dial. Press the hands free button. HANDSFREE will be displayed. Once the test button is pressed the tester will continue to perform the selected test until the hands free is deselected, the test button is pressed or the unit is powered off.
Buzzer
The buzzer function is used for quick and easy “belling out”. Turn the rotary dial to the buzzer function and apply the test leads to the resistance to be measured.
The Socket & See IRC PRO is fully BS EN 61010 and BS EN 61557 certified.
EMC compliance – BS EN 61326
Socket & See RCD PRO Professional RCD Tester
The RCD PRO is a digital RCD tester that will test the most commonly encountered RCD’s to current standards. This includes standard (AC) type, selective (ACS) type and A type RCD’s.
Key features
- Tests most commonly found RCD types (AC, A, ACS)
- Simple auto test for 30mA RCDs
- Ramp test for convenience
- x½ , x1 test on all RCD types
- x5 test on 30mA RCD’s
- Auto 0º – 180º toggle
- AC Voltage VLN
- Distribution network operator polarity test pad
- Result Recall
- Hands free function
- Polarity, voltage present LED
- Auto switch off function for battery preservation
The Socket & see RCD PRO shares many features of advanced, more expensive multifunction testers, including ramp and auto testing. Advanced features such as hands free and built in polarity test pad offer extra user convenience and safety.
Encased in a tough rubber boot with large back lit screen, the RCD PRO is a ‘go anywhere’ tool that is designed to survive frequent use. The smooth rotary dial and large buttons both make for ease of use, even when wearing gloves. The RCD PRO is also easy to maintain with a clean damp cloth and mild detergent.

30mA Auto Test
The 30mA auto test is available for A and AC type RCD. The tester will monitor the mains for correct polarity and voltage. If parameters are correct the Volts Present LED will illuminate green and a test can the carried out. On pressing the test button. The auto test will begin. X½ , x1 and x5 tests will automatically be carried out at 0º and 180º. The results can be seen by using the recall button to toggle through results.
RCD Manual Testing
Select the required RCD type on the rotary dial. Then use the multiplier button to select the required test current. If the mains polarity and voltage is correct the green volts present LED will illuminate and a test can be carried out by pushing the test button. The first test will always be done at 0º the tester will then automatically cycle to 180° ready for the next test.
Ramp test
Rather than applying a set test current this gradually increases the level of additional leakage to identify at what current the RCD trips.
Select the required RCD type on the rotary dial. Then use the multiplier button to select the ramp feature. If the mains polarity and voltage is correct the green volts present LED will illuminate and a test can be carried out by pushing the test button. The tester will display the leakage current at which the RCD tripped along with a pass or fail indication.
Handsfree
The Hands Free function can be used with any RCD test. Select the required RCD type on the rotary dial. Press the Hands Free button HANDSFREE will be displayed on the screen. Once the tester is connected, correct voltage and polarity is confirmed a RCD test will be conducted without TEST being pressed.
Polarity Test Pad
It is a little known fact that a system can be reverse wired with Live (Phase) to earth/neutral and earth/neutral to Live (Phase) The sockets will all work and conventional testers will show and test that everything is correct despite this very dangerous wiring condition.
