 Socket & See, the Test Instrument division of the Kew Technik Group of Companies, has introduced the second in a series of three Check Boxes.
Both the CB 100 and the new CB 200 are the type of check boxes recommended by the NICEIC. They are supplied with a Calibration Certificate, mains power lead, 4mm test leads, a manual and provide a quick and simple method of checking the ongoing accuracy of electrical installation test instruments.
Whilst they do not replace the calibration requirements, they provide a ready check, on instrument accuracy helping to minimise costly revisits to confirm installation compliance and greatly extend periods between costly formal calibrations.
The CB 100 offers the user checks for:
· Continuity Testing
· Insulation Resistance
· Earth Fault Loop Impedance
· Fast check option for Site Checks
· Local earth fault impedance
· Earth fault impedance plus 1Ω
Added Benefits with the CB 200:
Offered at an extremely reasonable price, the new CB 200 offers all of the benefits of the CB 100, but also has an RCD check facility with 5% Current Measurement Accuracy and Trip Timing Accuracy of 38 ± 1ms.
The new CB 200 also indicates correct earth leakage current for the following tests:
· 30mA x 0.5 (0° and 180°)
· 30mA x 1 (0°and 180°)
· 30mA x 5 (0°and 180°)
And there is an extra 100Ω scale on the loop testing function
Calibration
When using a check box, it is essential for the user to remember that if the measured values are found to be within the manufacturers tolerance, the instrument is suitable for continued use. If the values are outside the manufacturers tolerance then the instrument should be returned for checking and calibration.
